CIE is located in a self-contained IT suite,
at the front of the Cotgrave Welfare with parking to the side. We can accommodate six people
at a time on our network and they have access to a wide range of equipment
and software as part of the UK online facilities. The recent refurbishment
included a small storage room and space for a disabled toilet (we are
now looking for funding for this). The centre provides open access
drop- in sessions four times a week (as listed above). Drop in sessions are informal and new IT users
are guided and supported by our volunteers. Once they gain some basic
IT skills and confidence they may be encouraged to go on to further
training either here or at the local college. We have also provided three
computers in the community cafe at Cotgrave Futures and a computer
for Cotgrave Kids Club.
As
a voluntary group committed to providing access to IT and encouraging
people to participate in activities which will develop skills and confidence,
we intend to keep costs to our members to a minimum. Our aim is for
sustainability in the long term and to use our facilities and skills
to generate income to achieve this. However, we still need additional
funding to initiate further planned developments:
